What to Know Before Buying a Trick ScooterUpdated 23 days ago
New to stunt scooters? Welcome to the crew! 🛴✨
Before you dive into flips and grinds, here’s what you need to know to choose the right setup — whether you’re a beginner rider or a parent shopping for a future pro.
🧠 1. What is a trick scooter?
A trick scooter (also called a stunt scooter or freestyle scooter) is built for skateparks, street riding, and tricks. It’s stronger and more durable than a regular kick scooter — with a fixed handlebar and reinforced parts.
✅ 2. What should you look for?
Here are the most important things to consider before buying:
Rider’s age & height – This affects the ideal bar height and deck size
Skill level – Beginner, intermediate, or advanced?
Riding style – Park tricks, street grinds, or a mix of both?
Weight & strength of parts – Lightweight for spins, stronger for impacts
Wheel size – Usually between 100–120 mm for freestyle
Compression system – Impacts compatibility and maintenance (see: [Compression Guide])
🛠️ 3. Custom vs Complete
Complete scooters come fully assembled and ready to ride — perfect for beginners
Custom scooters let you mix & match bars, decks, wheels, etc. — great for more experienced riders
💡 Pro tip:
Not all parts are compatible! If you want to upgrade later, make sure your scooter has industry-standard parts (we’ve got guides for that too 😉).
