How to Build a Custom Stunt ScooterUpdated 20 hours ago

Want a one-of-a-kind setup that fits your style perfectly? Building your own stunt scooter is the way to go 🔧🛴 Here’s exactly how to do it, step by step.

🧰 What You’ll Need (Main Parts)

A full custom scooter includes these components:

  • 🛞 Wheels (usually 100–125 mm)

  • 🛴 Deck

  • 🪛 Fork (compatible with your compression type)

  • 🧲 Compression system (SCS, HIC, IHC, ICS, or Mini HIC)

  • 🧱 Clamp (double, triple, or SCS)

  • 🪵 Handlebars (standard or oversized)

  • 🧷 Headset (integrated or non-integrated)

  • 🛡️ Grips and grip tape

  • 🧵 Axles and spacers

  • Optional: bar ends, pegs, fenders or brake

🔍 Compatibility Is Everything

Before you start assembling, make sure:

  • Your compression system matches the bar/fork

  • Your clamp fits the bar diameter

  • Your deck and fork fit the same wheel size

  • Your headset type matches your deck (most modern decks are integrated)

💡 Not sure? Check our parts compatibility guide or contact us before ordering.

🔩 Assembly Steps (With Tips)

1. Install the headset into the deck

  • Most decks use integrated headsets

  • Drop the bearings and cups in place

  • Press down evenly until seated

2. Attach the fork

  • Slide fork into headset

  • Add the top cap and compression bolt

  • Tighten until fork spins freely but doesn’t wiggle

3. Install the compression system

  • Follow your system’s specific guide (SCS, HIC, IHC, etc.)

  • Ensure everything is snug — this is the scooter’s core stability

4. Install the bars and clamp

  • Slide bars onto the fork or compression system

  • Make sure they’re aligned straight

  • Tighten clamp bolts evenly using an X-pattern

5. Mount the wheels

  • Insert bearings and spacers if needed

  • Align spacers in fork and deck

  • Insert axle and tighten (don’t overtighten)

6. Add grips and grip tape

  • See our separate install guides for these

  • Personalize your setup for style + function

🧠 Pro Tips

  • Use threadlocker (Loctite) on clamp/compression bolts if riding hard

  • Always test bar alignment before final tightening

  • Bounce test your scooter to check if it's “dialed” (no rattles)
