How to Keep Your Scooter DialedUpdated 20 hours ago

A “dialed” scooter is one that’s tight, smooth, and totally silent. No rattles. No wobbles. Just perfect performance 🔇🛴

Stunt scooters go through a lot — tricks, impacts, weather, and daily use can all loosen parts over time. Regular maintenance keeps your scooter safe and running like new.

✅ What Does “Dialed” Mean?

In scooter slang, a dialed setup means:

  • No rattles when dropped or bounced

  • Bar, clamp, and headset are tight

  • Wheels spin freely with no noise

  • Compression system is stable

  • Everything is aligned and responsive

💡 Pro riders dial their scooter every few days — or even before every session.

🧰 Tools You’ll Need

  • 5 mm and 6 mm Allen keys (usually included with your scooter)

  • Optional: Torque wrench, rubber mallet, and Loctite (for high-impact riders)

🛠️ Regular Dialing Checklist (Do This Every 1–2 Weeks)

  1. Tighten the clamp

    • Make sure bars don’t twist or move under pressure

    • Use an X-pattern to tighten both bolts evenly

  2. Check the compression system

    • If you hear creaking or feel wobble, compression may need to be re-tightened

    • Refer to the compression install guide if unsure

  3. Test wheel tightness

    • Spin each wheel — they should spin freely without wobble

    • If they don’t, loosen and re-tighten the axle bolts with spacers correctly aligned

  4. Check headset play

    • Hold the front brake and rock the scooter — if you hear clicking, the headset is loose

    • Tighten compression until it stops

  5. Inspect your deck and fork

    • Look for cracks, chips, or unusual flex

    • Replace parts if they show signs of damage

  6. Check grips and grip tape

    • Worn grips reduce control — replace if slippery

    • Reapply grip tape if it’s peeling or smooth

  7. Keep everything clean

    • Wipe down dirt and dust

    • Avoid leaving your scooter wet or in the rain

🧠 Pro Tips

  • Use Loctite on bolts if they frequently come loose

  • Don’t overtighten — it can strip threads or damage parts

  • If your scooter “rattles” when dropped from a short height, it’s not dialed

🛠️ Is My Scooter Still Safe to Ride?

If you feel any of the following, stop and inspect:

  • Wobbly bars or clamp

  • Loose front wheel

  • Deck cracking or bending

  • Brake failure or looseness
